I'm planning a trip through Ethiopia and considering a quick 24-hour stop in Axum. Is one day enough to see the main highlights, or should I skip it?

A short visit to Axum can be worthwhile if you focus on the primary sights, such as the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion and the Abba Pentalewon Monastery. For the best experience, we recommend visiting between May and June or September and December. You can fly directly into Axum Airport (AXU) to maximize your limited time. While we cannot specify a full itinerary for a single day, focusing on these key landmarks is a great way to experience the city.
