Helix-Brücke
The Helix Bridge
What it is
The Helix Bridge is a curved pedestrian bridge across Marina Bay, connecting Marina Centre to Marina South. Its structure is made of interlocking steel tubes shaped like a double helix, which also carry lighting at night. It's mainly a walking route and a viewing point over the bay rather than a destination with facilities of its own, offering open sightlines toward the Marina Bay Sands, the ArtScience Museum, and the downtown skyline.
Getting there
It sits in the Marina Bay area within walking distance of the Downtown Core, so most visitors reach it on foot from nearby hotels or attractions in about 10-15 minutes. It's also a short walk from Bayfront and Promenade MRT stations.
How much time to allow
Walking the full bridge takes about 10-15 minutes at an easy pace. Add extra time if you plan to stop for photos or linger to look out over the bay, which can bring a visit to around 30 minutes.
When to go
Evening is when the bridge is most photographed, as the structure is lit up after dark and the surrounding skyline is illuminated too. This is also when it draws the largest crowds, especially on weekends. Midday visits are quieter but offer little shade, so the walk can feel hot and exposed.
What to combine it with
The bridge sits close to several other Marina Bay sights, making it easy to combine with a longer walk. The ArtScience Museum and Singapore Flyer are both about 0.3km away, while Merlion Park and Gardens by the Bay are roughly 0.7km away, making all four reasonable additions to the same outing on foot.
