Shin Kong Life Tower
신광 인수보험 마천대루(중국어: 新光人壽保險摩天大樓, 영어: Shin Kong Life Tower)는 타이완 타이베이시의 마천루이다.
Shin Kong Life Tower
Completed in 1993, this rose-colored 51-story tower topped by a pyramid roof was one of Taiwan's first skyscrapers. It combines a Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store on the lower and basement floors with office space above, including the headquarters of the Shin Kong Life insurance company. For visitors, the appeal is mostly as a landmark and viewing point over central Taipei rather than as a shopping destination in its own right — the tower sits directly across Zhongxiao Road from Taipei Main Station, giving it a prominent place on the skyline.
Getting there
Because it faces Taipei Main Station, the tower is reachable on foot from the station in a couple of minutes, and the station itself is served by the MRT, THSR, and mainline rail, making this one of the easiest attractions in the city to combine with other stops.
Time to allow
Allow around 30–60 minutes if you're browsing the department store or taking in the view from outside; more if you plan to shop.
When to go
The surrounding area around Taipei Main Station is busy throughout the day, especially during commuting hours and weekends, so expect crowds on the street level and inside the department store. Viewing the tower from outside works at any time, though early morning or evening will be quieter for photos.
Combine with
- 228 Peace Memorial Park (0.4km) — a green space with historical significance, an easy walk away.
- National Taiwan Museum (0.4km) — located within or adjacent to the park.
- Taipei Twins (0.4km) — another nearby landmark building.
- MoCA Taipei (0.7km) — a contemporary art museum a short walk further on.
These sights cluster close together, so they can be covered in a single walking loop starting or ending near Taipei Main Station.
