Al Bahr Towers
Al Bahr Towers
These twin 145-meter towers serve as a modern architectural landmark at the eastern entrance to downtown Abu Dhabi. Each building rises 29 stories and houses the headquarters of an Islamic bank and an investment institution. Travelers visit this site primarily to observe the unique exterior facade, which utilizes a computer-controlled shading system inspired by traditional Islamic mashrabiya to regulate sunlight and heat.
Getting There
The towers are located on the edge of the city center. Depending on your starting point within the downtown area, you can reach them via taxi or ride-sharing services. The trip typically takes between 5 to 15 minutes.
Duration of Visit
Since the towers are primarily commercial office buildings, most visitors spend 30 to 60 minutes viewing the architecture and the surrounding plaza from the exterior.
When to Visit
The best time to visit is during the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. During the winter months, the outdoor temperature is more manageable for walking. The area can become busy during weekday business hours due to the professional nature of the buildings.
Nearby Attractions
The location is convenient for combining with visits to several religious and cultural sites within a short distance:
- Mary, Mother of Jesus Mosque: 1.7km
- St. Therese Church, Abu Dhabi: 1.8km
- St. Joseph's Cathedral, Abu Dhabi: 1.8km
