La Ereta Park
La Ereta Park
La Ereta Park is a public green space situated on the slopes of Mount Benacantil. It serves as a resting point for visitors ascending toward the summit of the hill, offering a vantage point over downtown Alicante and the coastline.
Getting There
The park is located on the path leading from the city centre to Santa Bárbara Castle. It is accessible via a walk up the hillside or by using the lift that ascends the mountain. Depending on the starting point in the centre and the method of transport, it typically takes 15 to 30 minutes to reach.
Duration of Visit
Most visitors spend between 30 minutes and one hour here, as it is primarily used as a stopover for relaxation and viewing the city layout before continuing the climb or returning to the streets below.
When to Visit
Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon is advisable to avoid the midday heat, as the park is exposed on the hillside. During peak tourist seasons and weekends, the paths leading through the park can become crowded with people heading to the castle.

Because of its location, the park can be combined with several nearby sites:
- Santa Bárbara Castle: 0.3km (further up the hill)
- Basilica of Saint Mary: 0.2km
- Gravina Museum of Fine Arts: 0.2km
- Co-Cathedral of St. Nicholas of Bari: 0.3km
