Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Amman
Overview
Our Lady of the Annunciation Church is a Catholic church located in the residential Jabal al-Luweibdeh district of Amman. Travelers visit primarily to view its religious architecture and observe a functioning place of worship in one of the city's older, quieter neighborhoods.
Getting There
The site sits just northwest of downtown Amman (Al-Balad). A taxi or rideshare from the city centre takes roughly 5 to 10 minutes. Walking uphill from downtown is also an option, taking approximately 15 to 20 minutes via neighborhood streets and stairways.
Time to Allow
Plan to spend around 20 to 30 minutes here. This provides adequate time to view the exterior structure and see the interior when open to visitors.
When to Go
Weekday mornings and early afternoons are generally the quietest times to visit. The church rarely gets crowded with tour groups, though foot traffic and attendance increase during Sunday services and religious holidays. For comfortable walking conditions around the neighborhood, spring and autumn offer the mildest temperatures.
What to Combine It With
Due to its central position in Jabal al-Luweibdeh, a stop here can easily be paired with several nearby sites:
- Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts: 0.1 km away
- Our Lady Church: 0.2 km away
- King Abdullah I Mosque: 0.2 km away
