Overview

Dedicated to Andorra's patron saint, the sanctuary serves as the spiritual center of the country and a designated cultural heritage site. The complex combines a modern sanctuary designed by architect Ricardo Bofill with the restored remains of the original Romanesque chapel. Visitors go to explore its unique religious architecture and exhibits on Andorran history.

Getting There

From central Andorra la Vella, take the CG-2 road northeast toward Canillo. The drive covers roughly 10 kilometers and takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Regular intercity buses between Andorra la Vella and Canillo also stop nearby.

Time to Spend

Allow 45 minutes to 1 hour to walk through the main sanctuary, the cloister, and the historic exhibition.

When to Visit

Mornings offer clear natural light inside the sanctuary. The site is generally calm on weekdays, but it becomes crowded on September 8 during the National Holiday of Andorra when annual pilgrimages occur.
