Duluti Lake is a volcanic crater lake situated on the eastern edge of the East African Rift Valley. Located 14 km from downtown Arusha, the site provides a quiet natural setting where travelers can walk along forested paths, observe birdlife, and take in the water views away from the urban center.

Getting There

Reaching the lake from central Arusha takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes by taxi or private vehicle, covering the 14-kilometer distance heading east along the main road toward Moshi.

Time to Spend

Allow about 1.5 to 3 hours on-site. This gives you adequate time to complete the trail around the perimeter, watch birds, and rest near the shoreline.

When to Visit

Mornings and late afternoons provide cooler temperatures and better wildlife viewing. The dry periods of the year offer firmer trail footing than the rainy months. The area rarely gets crowded, though weekend afternoons see moderate local visitor activity.
