Catedral
Catedral District
The Catedral is an old district in Asunción located along the banks of the Paraguay River. It is named after the city's cathedral and serves as a historical area where visitors can walk along the riverside and observe the city's early urban development.
Getting There
The district is located within the central area of Asunción. Depending on your starting point in the city centre, it is accessible via a short taxi ride or a walk of approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
Suggested Duration
Allow roughly 1 to 2 hours to walk through the district and along the riverfront.
When to Visit
Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat typical of Paraguay. The riverside paths are more comfortable during these cooler periods. The area can become busier during local holidays or weekend afternoons.
