Overview

Auckland Domain is a 75-hectare public park in Grafton and the city's oldest green space. Laid out over the crater of the extinct Pukekawa volcano, it offers open lawns and walking paths for travellers wanting a quiet outdoor stroll near the city.

Getting There

From central Auckland, the park is a 20- to 30-minute walk uphill. Alternatively, city buses and commuter trains to Grafton or Parnell take roughly 10 to 15 minutes.

Time to Allow

Allow 1 to 2 hours to walk the trails and explore the grounds at a steady pace.

When to Visit

Daylight hours are best for walking. Weekends and sunny afternoons draw sports clubs and local families, making the grounds busier. Early weekday mornings are quieter.
