Kastel Fortress
Located on the banks of the Vrbas River, this medieval fortress occupies a site used since pre-Roman times. It was later captured by the Ottoman Empire in 1527. Visitors go here to explore the remaining fortifications and walk through the historical grounds in the center of Banja Luka.
Getting There
The fortress is situated in the downtown area. It is accessible by foot from the city center, typically taking only a few minutes to reach depending on your starting point.

Allow approximately one to two hours to walk through the grounds and view the architectural remains.
When to Visit
The site is open-air, making it most accessible during the spring and autumn months. Early morning or late afternoon visits avoid the midday sun. It does not typically experience extreme crowding, though it is more active during weekends.
