Ľupča Castle
Overview
Ľupča Castle is a medieval fortress situated above the village of Slovenská Ľupča in the upper Hron River valley, about 10 kilometres east of Banská Bystrica. Travellers visit to see the historical stone fortifications and enjoy views overlooking the valley.
Getting There
From central Banská Bystrica, the drive takes about 15 minutes heading east along Route 66. Regional buses also connect the city centre with Slovenská Ľupča in roughly 20 minutes, followed by a short uphill walk to the entrance.
Time to Allow
Set aside 1 to 2 hours for a visit. This allows enough time to tour the grounds, walk around the exterior walls, and take in the scenery.
When to Go
Late spring to early autumn brings the most comfortable weather for outdoor walking. Visiting during midday or early afternoon ensures good natural light. The site rarely sees heavy crowds, offering a quiet atmosphere.
