Zoos & aquariums
Aquarium Barcelona
Aquarium Barcelona
Located at the city's old port, this facility houses approximately 10,000 marine animals representing around 450 species. Visitors go here to observe marine life, specifically through an 80-meter underwater tunnel that allows for close-up viewing of the animals swimming overhead.
Getting There
The aquarium is situated at the waterfront, accessible from the city centre via a short walk from the waterfront promenade or by taking local bus lines toward the Port Vell area. From the central Plaça de Catalunya area, the journey typically takes about 20 to 30 minutes depending on the mode of transport.
Visit Duration
Most visitors spend between 2 and 3 hours exploring the exhibits and walking through the underwater tunnel.
When to Visit
The facility often gets crowded during peak tourist seasons and on weekends. To avoid the largest crowds, visiting during weekday mornings is generally more efficient.
