What It Is

The Fundació Joan Miró is an art museum dedicated to the life and work of Catalan artist Joan Miró. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, textiles, and sketches spanning his career, focusing on his signature surrealist forms and colour palette. The building was purpose-built by architect Josep Lluís Sert.

Getting There

From central Barcelona, travel takes 20 to 30 minutes. Take the metro to Paral·lel station, transfer to the Montjuïc Funicular, and walk a short distance, or take bus 55 or 150 directly to the stop outside.

Time to Allow

Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to view the permanent collection, temporary exhibits, and the rooftop sculpture terrace.

Galleries get crowded during midday and peak summer season. Visit on a weekday morning or late afternoon for a quieter experience.
