Overview

Parc de la Ciutadella is a public park located on the edge of Barcelona's Old Town. It contains open lawns, walking paths, a rowing lake, and the Parliament of Catalonia. Travellers visit to walk, picnic, or take a quiet break from the surrounding city streets.

Getting There

From central areas like Plaça de Catalunya, the park is a 15- to 20-minute walk east. Alternatively, metro line L1 (Arc de Triomf) or L4 (Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica) takes about 10 minutes from the centre.

Time to Spend

Allow 1 to 2 hours to walk through the grounds and see the main landmarks. Extra time is needed if visiting on-site facilities.

When to Visit

Morning and late afternoon are the best times to avoid midday summer heat. The park becomes crowded on weekends and sunny afternoons, so weekday mornings are preferable for a quieter visit.
