Transport Modes in Barranquilla

Barranquilla does not have a metro or subway system. Movement relies on road-based transport.

• Taxis: Plentiful and available on street corners. They are faster to hail than apps but require negotiation or a meter, which is not always used.
• Transmetro: The city's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. It wins for cost and speed on main arteries, utilizing dedicated lanes to bypass traffic.

Tickets and Passes

The Transmetro uses a rechargeable smart card. This is worth considering for those staying long-term or those commuting daily between the city center and the northern residential areas. It does not suit short-term visitors who only plan to visit a few major sites, as ride-hailing is more direct.

The airport is located a significant distance from the urban center.
