Royal Palace

Located in the Dedinje neighborhood of Belgrade, this building is the central part of the Royal Compound. Built between 1924 and 1929 by King Alexander I, it served as the residence for the Karađorđević royal family. Visitors go here to see the architecture of the former royal residence and learn about the history of the Serbian monarchy.

Getting There

The palace is situated in the Dedinje district, away from the city center. You can reach it via taxi or local public transport. The journey from the central area typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to view the exterior and the immediate grounds of the compound.

When to Visit

The site is best visited during daylight hours. Spring and autumn offer mild weather for walking around the estate. It does not typically experience the same level of crowding as the city's central fortress or museums.

Nearby Attractions

Because of its location, you can combine a visit here with other nearby sites in the Dedinje and Topčider areas:

  • Topčider (0.2km): A nearby park and historical area.
  • Dedinje (0.6km): The surrounding residential neighborhood.
  • Košutnjak (0.9km): A large forested park and recreation area.
  • Banjica concentration camp (1.5km): A memorial site located a short distance away.
