St. John's Co-Cathedral

This 16th-century Catholic co-cathedral in Valletta is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Originally built as a conventual church by the Knights of St. John, it serves as a historical site featuring religious art and architecture from the period of the Order's rule in Malta.

Getting There

The cathedral is located within the fortified city of Valletta. Since it is centrally positioned, most visitors reach it on foot from the city center. Depending on your starting point within the city walls, the walk typically takes between 5 and 15 minutes.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the interior and view the artwork and chapel details.

When to Visit

The site often gets crowded, particularly during peak tourist seasons. To avoid the largest groups, plan your visit for early morning. As it is an active place of worship, be mindful of scheduled religious services when planning your arrival.
