Freedom Square
Freedom Square
Located in the center of Brno, Freedom Square is a triangular public space situated at the intersection of seven streets. Historically established where 13th-century trade routes crossed, it serves as a central meeting point and pedestrian area for residents and visitors to walk through the city core.
Getting There
The square is located within the city center. If you are staying in the central district, it is accessible via a short walk. Depending on your starting point within the core, it typically takes 5 to 15 minutes to reach on foot.
Suggested Duration
Allow 30 to 60 minutes to walk across the square and observe the surrounding architecture and atmosphere. This time varies depending on whether you stop at the local cafes or seating areas.
When to Visit
The square is accessible throughout the year. It becomes crowded during weekends and during the holiday season when seasonal markets are often held. Visiting during weekday mornings is generally quieter than in the evenings when the area is more active with social gatherings.

Because of its central location, the square is within walking distance of several historical sites:
- Palác šlechtičen (0.1km)
- Church of St. James (0.2km)
- Church of Saint Michael (0.2km)
