Overview

Geumjeongsan is a granite mountain spanning Busan and Yangsan. Rising to 801.5 meters at its highest point, Godangbong, it features rocky peaks and ridgeline trails. Travellers visit primarily for day hikes and views overlooking the city and surrounding terrain.

Getting There

From central Busan (such as Seomyeon or Busan Station), take Busan Metro Line 1 north to Beomeosa Station or Oncheonjang Station (30 to 45 minutes). From there, local buses reach trailhead access points in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Time to Allow

Allow 3 to 5 hours for a standard hike to the peak and back. Traversing longer ridge sections requires up to 6 hours.

When to Go

Spring and autumn offer the mildest hiking conditions. Summer is humid and hot, while winter brings cold ridge winds. Trails are heavily crowded on weekend mornings; visit on a weekday morning for fewer crowds.

Nearby Attractions

You can combine a hike with these nearby sites:

  • Geumjeongsanseong (0km): Fortress walls running along the mountain ridges.
  • Beomeosa (1.2km): Buddhist temple on the eastern slopes, often used as a trailhead.
  • Busan Al-Fatah Mosque (4.2km): Mosque located in the district below.
  • Busan Marine Natural History Museum (7.1km): Natural history museum south near Oncheonjang.
