Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant is a 663-meter hill located in a northeastern suburb of Canberra. Visitors go here for walking trails and to view the surrounding landscape from the summit. The site features a memorial honoring the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery and provides a vantage point overlooking the Royal Military College and the Australian Defence Force Academy.

Getting there from the Canberra city centre typically involves a short drive or a combination of public transport and walking, taking approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic.

Planning Your Visit

Allow roughly 1 to 2 hours to walk up to the summit, visit the memorial, and view the overlooks. The time required depends on your walking pace and how long you spend at the lookout points.

The site is best visited during the day for visibility. Spring and autumn are generally suitable seasons for outdoor walking in the region. It does not typically experience the heavy crowds found at major city landmarks.
