Reconciliation Place

Located within Canberra's Parliamentary Triangle, this public space was opened in 2002 to commemorate the reconciliation between Indigenous Australians and settlers. Visitors go here to view symbolic sculptures and reflect on the history of Australia's First Nations people and the process of national healing.

Getting There

The site is situated in the central government precinct. From the city centre, it is accessible via a short bus ride or a 15 to 20 minute walk, walk through the Parliamentary Triangle.

Visit Duration

Depending on the pace of your walk and the amount of time spent reading the commemorative information, allow 30 to 60 minutes to explore the area.

When to Visit

The space is an open-air park, making it most comfortable during the spring and autumn months. Early morning or late afternoon visits avoid the midday sun. It generally does not get crowded, though it may be busier during national holidays or official commemorative events.
