De Waal Park

Located in the Oranjezicht neighborhood, this heritage-listed public park serves as a botanical space featuring approximately 120 different tree species. Travelers visit the site for walking, relaxing in a green environment, or exercising pets.

Getting There

The park is situated on the edge of the City Bowl. From the city centre, it is a short distance away, typically reachable within 5 to 10 minutes by car or a 15-minute walk depending on your starting point.

Duration of Visit

Depending on your pace, allow 45 to 90 minutes to walk through the grounds and observe the various tree species.

When to Visit

The park is suitable for visits throughout the year. Morning and late afternoon are generally preferred to avoid the midday heat. Like most popular public spaces in Cape Town, it can become crowded on weekends and public holidays.
