Milnerton Lighthouse
What to Expect
Milnerton Lighthouse is a coastal navigation tower built in 1960 along Table Bay. Its red light shines across the water toward Robben Island. Visitors go to view the structure from the beach and look across Table Bay toward Table Mountain.
Getting There
Located roughly 11 kilometres north of central Cape Town, it takes about 15 to 25 minutes by car or taxi via the R27 route, depending on traffic.
Time to Spend
Allow 30 to 45 minutes. Because visits focus on viewing the exterior and walking along the shoreline, a short stop is sufficient.
When to Visit
Late afternoon provides good light for views across the bay. The area is rarely crowded, though local walkers use the beach path during mornings and evenings. Coastal winds are common, so bring a windbreaker.
