Overview

Wat Phra Sing is a major Buddhist temple complex in Chiang Mai's Old City. It houses the revered Phra Buddha Sihing statue and serves as an active monastery. Travellers visit to see Lanna-style architecture, intricate wood carvings, and traditional religious practices in daily operation.

Getting There

Located at the western end of Ratchadamnoen Road inside the Old City, the site is reachable on foot from most central Old City points in about 10 to 15 minutes. From outside the city walls, songthaews (red shared trucks) or tuk-tuks take roughly 5 to 10 minutes.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend 45 to 90 minutes. This allows enough time to visit the main prayer hall, admire the central golden chedi, and walk around the grounds.

When to Go

Early morning is the best time to visit to avoid the midday heat and tour bus crowds. The grounds become crowded by afternoon. Modest attire covering shoulders and knees is required.
