Patenga Beach
Located on the Bay of Bengal near the mouth of the Karnaphuli River, this is a coastal area 14 km south of Chittagong. Travelers visit this site to see the confluence of the river and the sea, and for its proximity to the city's naval installations and international airport.
Getting There
The beach is accessible from the city centre via rickshaw, CNG auto-rickshaw, or taxi. Depending on traffic conditions in Chittagong, the journey typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes.
Duration of Visit
A visit usually requires 2 to 4 hours, depending on whether you are walking along the shoreline or spending time at the nearby riverbank.
When to Visit
The late afternoon is the preferred time to visit to avoid the midday heat and to observe the sunset. The area becomes crowded during weekends and public holidays. The winter months are generally the most comfortable for outdoor activities.
