When to Visit

Aim for the early morning or late afternoon when outdoor ground temperatures are cooler, as visitors must remove their footwear before entering the temple perimeter. The complex gets noticeably crowded on monthly full moon (Poya) days and during religious festivals. Modest dress covering shoulders and knees is required.
