Parque Calderón

Located in the center of Cuenca's old town, this public square serves as a central hub surrounded by colonial-style architecture and the city's main cathedrals. Travelers visit this location to observe local life and use it as a primary orientation point for exploring the historic district on foot.

Getting There

The park is situated in the heart of the city center. If you are staying in the downtown area, it is accessible within a few minutes of walking. For those arriving from Mariscal Lamar International Airport (CUE), a short taxi or ride-share trip will bring you directly to the square.

Time Allotment

Depending on your pace, allow 30 to 60 minutes to walk through the gardens and observe the surrounding buildings. If you plan to visit the adjacent churches, you will need additional time.

When to Visit

The square is active throughout the day. It can become crowded during weekends and local holidays. Because Cuenca is located in the highlands, weather can change quickly; carrying an umbrella or light jacket is recommended regardless of the season.
