Church of the Society of Jesus

This Jesuit church is located on the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. It was constructed on the site of a former Inca royal palace and serves as a primary example of Spanish Baroque architecture in Peru. Visitors go here to see the detailed stone carvings of the facade and the ornate interior decorations.

Getting There

The church is situated directly on the main square in the city centre. If you are staying in the central district, it is accessible via a short walk. From the heart of the Plaza de Armas, it takes less than a 2-minute walk.

Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to examine the exterior architecture and walk through the interior of the building.

When to Visit

The site often gets crowded during peak tourist seasons and during midday hours when tour groups congregate in the main square. Visiting early in the morning may provide a quieter experience.
