Pointe des Almadies

Located at the tip of the Cap-Vert Peninsula in Dakar, this site is the westernmost point of the African continent and the combined Eurasian-African landmass. Visitors go here to stand at the edge of the continent and view the Atlantic Ocean.

Getting There

The site is located at the far western end of the city. From Dakar city centre, you can reach it via taxi or ride-sharing services. Depending on traffic conditions, the journey typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes.

Duration of Visit

Most visitors spend between 1 and 2 hours at the point. This allows enough time to walk to the edge of the peninsula and observe the coastline.

When to Visit

Late afternoon is a common time to visit to avoid the midday heat. The dry season is generally more favorable for outdoor exploration. The area can become crowded during weekends and public holidays when local residents visit the coast.
