Overview

Raj Ghat is a memorial complex in Delhi marking the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. It consists of a black marble platform surrounded by landscaped lawns, along with two adjacent museums that present exhibits covering Gandhi's life, philosophy, and work.

Getting There

The memorial is located east of central Delhi. Traveling from Connaught Place by taxi, auto-rickshaw, or metro takes approximately 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic.

Time to Allow

Set aside roughly 1 to 2 hours to walk the grounds, view the central memorial, and explore the museum exhibits.

When to Go

Morning and late afternoon are the best times to visit, helping you avoid direct sun and hot walking surfaces where shoes must be removed. The cooler winter months between October and March are ideal for outdoor walking. The grounds become crowded on weekends and during major national observances such as Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) and Martyrs' Day (January 30).
