Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace
Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace
The Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace serves as the official workplace of the President of Timor-Leste. Located in downtown Dili, the building has been in use since 2009. Visitors go here to see the seat of government and gain a glimpse into the modern political history of the country.
Getting there from the city centre is straightforward as the palace is situated within the central district. Depending on your starting point, it is a short walk or a few minutes by local transport.
Planning Your Visit
Allow approximately one hour for a visit to the site. This provides enough time to view the exterior and the immediate grounds.
When visiting, consider the tropical climate of Dili; early morning or late afternoon is generally preferred to avoid the midday heat. As it is an active government facility, access may be restricted during official state events.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its central location, the palace can be combined with several other landmarks within walking distance:
- Immaculate Conception Cathedral: 0.6km
- An-Nur Mosque: 0.7km
- Motael Church: 1km
- Dili Harbor Lighthouse: 1km
