About Merrion Square

Merrion Square is a landscaped Georgian garden square in southern central Dublin. Surrounded by classic townhouses, it offers manicured lawns, walking paths, mature trees, and historical statues. Travellers visit to take a restful break or enjoy a short walk in the heart of the city.

Getting There

The park is situated just east of the city centre. It is an easy 10- to 15-minute walk from Trinity College or Grafton Street. Several bus routes pass nearby, and Pearse rail station is roughly a 5-minute walk north.

Time to Spend

Allow 30 to 45 minutes for a complete loop along the paths and a brief rest.

When to Visit

Dry days during spring and summer are the best times to walk around. Weekday lunchtimes and sunny weekend afternoons bring steady local foot traffic, but the grounds remain uncrowded. Early mornings are best for a quiet visit.
