Kaikorai Valley

Located west of central Dunedin, this is a broad, gently sloping valley characterized by quiet scenery. Visitors go here to walk or observe the landscape along the Kaikorai Stream, which runs through the center of the valley.

Getting There

The valley is situated approximately 5km from the Dunedin city centre. It is accessible by car or local transport, with the journey typically taking about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic.

Duration of Visit

Depending on the pace of your walk and how much of the stream you wish to follow, allow between 1 and 3 hours to explore the area.

When to Visit

The valley is suitable for visits throughout the year. Daylight hours are longest during the summer months, providing more time for outdoor exploration. It generally does not experience the heavy crowds found at major city landmarks.
