Dushanbe Zoo
Dushanbe Zoo
Established in 1960, this zoo is located on the banks of the Luchob River in downtown Dushanbe. It serves as a public space for viewing a variety of animal species and is situated immediately adjacent to the Pamir Stadium.
Getting There
The zoo is centrally located within the city. From the city center, it is accessible via local taxis or public transport. Depending on the exact starting point and traffic conditions, the trip typically takes between 5 to 15 minutes.
Visit Duration
Most visitors spend approximately 1 to 2 hours exploring the grounds and viewing the animal enclosures.
When to Visit
The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn months to avoid the extreme heat of the Tajik summer and the cold of winter. Visiting during weekday mornings generally allows for a quieter experience, as the site can become more crowded on weekends and public holidays.
Combining with Other Attractions
Due to its central location, the zoo can be paired with several other nearby sites:
- Luchob (0.3km): A local market area within short walking distance.
- Tajikistan National Museum (0.7km): A short walk or quick drive away.
- Haji Yaqub Mosque (1.1km): Located a short distance from the zoo.
- Palace of Unity (1.3km): Accessible via a brief transit or walk.
