Palmengarten
What to Expect
Palmengarten is a 22-hectare botanical garden in Frankfurt with landscaped grounds and indoor glasshouses containing plant collections from various climate zones. Visitors come to walk along quiet pathways, view tropical and desert flora, or take a break from the surrounding urban environment.
Getting There
From central stations like Hauptwache or Frankfurt Central Station, take the U-Bahn (lines U4, U6, or U7) to Bockenheimer Warte or Westend. The transit ride takes 10 to 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute walk to the gate.
How Much Time to Allow
Set aside 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives you enough time to tour the main greenhouses and wander through the outdoor sections at a comfortable pace.
When to Visit
Spring and summer offer the fullest outdoor displays, while the climate-controlled greenhouses provide an indoor option during cold or wet weather. The grounds get crowded on sunny weekend afternoons; visit on weekday mornings for a quieter experience.
