St. Catherine's Church

St. Catherine's Church is the largest Lutheran place of worship in Frankfurt. This Protestant church is built in the Baroque style and was restored to its original appearance after being destroyed during the war. Visitors go here to see the Baroque architecture and experience a quiet space in the middle of the city's central square.

Getting There

The church is located in the heart of the city. From the central Innenstadt area, it is a short walk of approximately 0.2km, taking about 2 to 5 minutes on foot.

Time Required

Allow 30 to 60 minutes to explore the interior and the surrounding square.

When to Visit

Visiting during weekday mornings typically avoids the largest crowds. As it is located near major shopping and tourist hubs, the immediate exterior area can become crowded during peak shopping hours and weekends.

Nearby Attractions

Because of its central location, the church can be easily combined with other nearby sites:

  • Innenstadt: 0.2km
  • St. Paul's Church: 0.3km
  • Zeil: 0.3km
  • Römerberg: 0.4km
