Bayt al-Saqqā

Bayt al-Saqqā is a 17th-century mansion located in the Shuja'iyya district of Gaza City. Built by the merchant Ahmed al-Saqqa, the residence is an example of Mamluk-style architecture. Visitors go here to observe historical residential design and the specific masonry and layout characteristic of the era.

Getting There

The mansion is situated in the market alleys of the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of the city center. Depending on the starting point within the center, it is a short trip by taxi or a walk of approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Allow roughly one hour to walk through the premises and observe the architectural details of the mansion.

When to Visit

The site is best visited during the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. As it is located within a busy market district, the surrounding alleys can become crowded during peak shopping hours.
