Overview
This historic lakeside location marks the setting of the November 1985 summit where United States President Ronald Reagan and Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev met for the first time during the Cold War. Over three days, the two leaders held talks concerning international diplomacy and the arms race. Travellers visit to see the physical backdrop of these negotiations and to explore the open natural grounds overlooking Lake Geneva.
Getting There
From central Geneva, regional trains running along the lakeshore depart regularly from Geneva Cornavin station toward Versoix. The rail journey takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes, followed by a short walk to the waterfront area. Local buses running along the main lake road provide an alternative route from the city centre.
