Georgetown Lighthouse
Georgetown Lighthouse
Located on Water Street, this lighthouse dates back to 1817 and was later rebuilt in 1830. Visitors go here to climb 138 steps to the balcony, which provides a vantage point over the city of Georgetown.
Getting There
The lighthouse is situated within the city center. Depending on your starting point in the central district, it is accessible via a short taxi ride or a walk of approximately 10 to 20 minutes.
Duration of Visit
Allow roughly 45 to 60 minutes for a visit. This provides enough time to ascend the stairs, observe the city from the balcony, and descend.
When to Visit
Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon is advisable to avoid the peak midday heat of Guyana. There are no specific seasonal closures, though weather conditions can vary.
