About the Area

Moscou is an old residential quarter located in the southeastern part of Ghent. The district acquired its distinctive name during the early nineteenth century when Russian troops were stationed here. Travelers head here primarily to stroll through quiet residential streets and narrow alleys, experiencing everyday life in Ghent away from major tourist hubs.

Getting There

From central Ghent, the neighborhood is reachable by public transit—such as local trams and buses—or by bicycle. The ride generally takes 15 to 25 minutes from the historic core or Gent-Sint-Pieters station.

Set aside roughly 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. This allows enough time to wander through the side streets and take in the neighborhood atmosphere at a relaxed pace.
