Vanguard Cave is a natural sea cave located on the southeast face of the Rock of Gibraltar. It is part of the Gorham's Cave complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visitors go here to see evidence of prehistoric human activity, as the site contains traces of Neanderthal habitation dating back approximately 55,000 years.
Getting There
The cave is located on the eastern side of the Rock, away from the main city centre. Access is typically via guided tours or designated hiking trails. Depending on the transport method used to ascend the Rock, the journey from the city centre generally takes 20 to 40 minutes.
