Getting Around Guadalajara

Guadalajara’s core visitor areas include Centro Histórico, Colonia Americana, Zapopan, and Tlaquepaque.

• Mi Tren (Light Rail): The three-line network is the fastest transit mode. Line 3 links Zapopan, downtown, and Tlaquepaque directly, bypassing road traffic.
• Mi Macro (BRT): Dedicated bus lanes on Calzada Independencia and the Periférico ring provide rapid north-south and peripheral transit.
• Walking and Ride-Hailing: Walking is best inside Colonia Americana and historic plazas. App rides handle late journeys and off-rail trips.

Tickets and the Mi Movilidad Card

The rechargeable Mi Movilidad card is required for trains and BRT; purchase and refill it at station kiosks. Regular city buses require exact coins since machines give no change and drivers take no money. Travelers staying in central walkable areas who use ride-hailing do not need it, but transit riders should get one.
