Atarés Castle

Atarés Castle is a hexagonal fortress constructed in 1767. Situated on a hill, the fortress was designed to defend Havana Harbor. Visitors go here to see the military architecture and the panoramic views of the city and harbor. It is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site designation that includes other historic locations in Old Havana.

Getting There

The fortress is located on the outskirts of the historic center. From the city centre, you can reach the site via taxi or local transport. The trip typically takes 10 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the fortifications and observe the surrounding landscape.

When to Visit
