Anemospilia is an archaeological site in Crete featuring the remains of an ancient Minoan temple. Visitors go here to see the architectural layout of a religious center from the Minoan civilization and to understand the spiritual practices of the period.

Getting There

The site is located outside the center of Heraklion. The most practical way to reach it is by rental car or taxi from the city center. The drive typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Most visitors spend between 1 and 2 hours exploring the ruins and reading the informational signage on-site.

When to Visit

The site is an open-air archaeological area, so it is best visited during the spring or autumn to avoid the extreme heat of the Greek summer. Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid direct midday sun. It generally does not experience the same level of crowding as the larger Minoan sites.
