Makravank Monastery
Overview
Makravank Monastery is a religious site in the Makravan district of Hrazdan. It preserves the remains of an 11th-century chapel, a 13th-century church with a round tower roof, and a medieval cemetery. Visitors go to view regional ecclesiastical architecture and historical stone carvings in a quiet setting.
Getting There
Located in southern Hrazdan, the site is a 5 to 10-minute drive or taxi ride from the city centre. Travellers arriving via Zvartnots International Airport (EVN) can take regional transport to Hrazdan before connecting to the site.
Visiting Time
Allow 30 to 45 minutes. The grounds are compact, giving ample time to view the church structure, chapel ruins, and surrounding cemetery.
When to Visit
Spring through autumn provides comfortable conditions for exploring the outdoor grounds. Daylight hours are best for viewing the exterior masonry. The location does not get crowded and remains quiet at most times.
