Metropolitan Cathedral

The Metropolitan Cathedral is a Romanian Orthodox cathedral and the largest historic Orthodox building in Romania. Visitors go here to see the late Italian Renaissance architecture and Baroque ornamentation used in both the interior and exterior design.

Getting There

The cathedral is located within the central area of Iași. From the city center, it is accessible via a short walk or a quick taxi ride, typically taking less than 10 minutes depending on your starting point.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 45 to 90 minutes to walk around the exterior and explore the interior details of the building.

When to Visit

Visiting during weekday mornings generally avoids the larger crowds. During major Orthodox religious holidays, the site becomes significantly more crowded due to services. All seasons are suitable for a visit, though the exterior is most visible during the spring and summer months.
