Höchenberg

Höchenberg is a mountainous region within the Karwendel range, located southwest of the Nordkette ridge near Innsbruck. Its highest point is the Kirchbergköpfl, which reaches an elevation of 1,943 meters. Travelers visit this area for hiking and alpine trekking in a natural mountain environment.

Getting There

Access to the area is typically via the outskirts of Innsbruck. From the city centre, visitors can reach the trailheads by car or local transport. Depending on the specific starting point and traffic, the journey generally takes between 30 to 60 minutes.

Time Allocation

The amount of time required depends on the chosen trail and the hiker's pace. A full ascent to the peaks and return usually requires a full day. Shorter walks in the lower elevations can be completed in a few hours.

When to Visit

The area is best visited during the summer and autumn when trails are clear of snow. In winter, the region is accessible only to those with mountaineering equipment and experience in snowy conditions. To avoid the most crowded periods, plan visits for weekdays rather than weekends.

Nearby Points of Interest

The region is well-suited for multi-peak trekking. You can combine a visit here with other nearby summits in the Karwendel range:

  • Großer Solstein (2.4 km)
  • Kleiner Solstein (2.8 km)
  • Hohe Warte (3.3 km)
