Hofkirche

The Hofkirche is a Gothic church located in the old town of Innsbruck. Built in 1553 by Ferdinand I, it serves as a memorial to his grandfather, Emperor Maximilian I. Visitors go here to see the cenotaph of Maximilian I, which is surrounded by numerous German Renaissance sculptures, and the tomb of the Tyrolean figure Andreas Hofer.

Getting There

The church is situated within the pedestrian zone of the city centre. It is accessible on foot from most central hotels and landmarks. Depending on your starting point in the old town, it takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reach.

Visit Duration

Allow roughly 45 to 90 minutes to walk through the interior and examine the sculptures and tombs.

When to Visit

The site can get crowded during peak tourist seasons and midday hours. Visiting early in the morning typically allows for a quieter experience. There are no specific seasonal restrictions for visiting the interior.
