Wales Park

Wales Park is a small hilltop garden located in central Kandy. Originally established by a Sri Lankan king and later renamed during British rule in honor of the Prince of Wales, the park serves as a vantage point for visitors to see the layout of Kandy Lake and the surrounding town from an elevated position.

Getting There

The park is situated within the central area of Kandy. From the city center, it is accessible via a short walk or a quick tuk-tuk ride, typically taking less than 10 minutes depending on the exact starting point.

Duration of Visit

Because of its small size, most visitors spend between 30 and 60 minutes here. This is generally enough time to walk through the grounds and observe the views of the city below.

When to Visit

Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. Like many central attractions in Kandy, the area can become crowded during peak tourist seasons or local holidays.
